FILM REVIEW :

"That Thing You Do!" is a light-hearted musical comedy set in the mid-1960's, in the days of rock "n" roll bands like "The Beatles". This film follows the rise & fall of a fictitious band known as "The Wonders". Tom Hanks directs & stars in this enjoyable romp down memory lane. Hanks is even credited as having written some of the songs.  Tom Everett Scott (a young Tom Hanks look-alike) stars as shop assistant, Guy Patterson who is recruited into the band when the regular drummer brakes his arm. Look out for the beautiful Liv Tyler as the love interest & Hanks' real-life wife Rita Wilson in a small cameo as a waitress. "That Thing You Do!" is a pleasant film with catchy tunes that you will be humming for weeks after.  It is  a highly recommended musical, especially for fans of 1960's nostalgia.
